According to the research of N. Alekperova, in the territory of Lachin region Armenian terrorist and armed gangs destroyed palaces of Soltan Akhmed and Khamza Soltan, sacred places, caves - sites of ancient people, graves, burial hills, other historical monuments. Richest funds of history regional museums of Lachin where rarest examples of national culture were collected were taken out to Yerevan.
The picture will be incomplete if we do not mention general pillage on the part of Karabakh "fighters for independence".
Everyone was looting, from the future "president" of "NKR" to a teenager. Here are several Russian and Armenian sources.
"We are heading for the Azerbaijan regional centre Jebrail. Clubs of blue smoke over the town. The town is burning. It is also occupied by Nahorno-Karabakh army. Teenagers with wheelbarrows and baby carriages are rushing about the town. They break locks on the doors, take valuables and set houses on fire. Wheelbarrows and baby carriages are filled with different things. Looting is in full swing. A militia UAZ is standing on the crossroads wrapped in camouflage net. Marauders quietly roll their wheelbarrows and carriages past the bored militiamen.
"Why don't you stop the looting?"
"It isn't looting, it's contribution…" answers the militiaman calmly. "They've been robbing and deporting us for many years, now we are taking back ours…"
The picture of such general looting, in which children, old men, heads of families take part, make a very painful impression. All participants of the action realize perfectly well that the action is indecent and either react to photo and TV cameras painfully and aggressively or hide. No satisfaction from filming at all. And here is a picture: the road, which turns opening the view of the burning pillaged town, against the background of column of four or five trucks laden with household goods, doors and frames, a family is going, father, mother and four children.
The father is pushing a big wheelbarrow laden with some clothes. "Minsk" refrigerator lies on its side over the clothes. The mother follows rolling a baby carriage crammed with dishes and saucepans. One get the impression that dishes were collected after a picnic or dinner but had no time to wash them.
The mother is followed by a girl of 13 or 15, bending under two suitcases tied together with towels. Another such suitcase is hauled by a boy of about 12 years. He is obviously very tired and drags the heavy suitcase along the dusty road. Another girl of about ten years carries a huge bundle of curtains and tablecloths. I wonder how she can see the road.
The procession is closed by a little boy of four or fives years that is struggling two three meter long aluminium curtains. The curtains must have been tied together in the beginning of the way but then fell apart. The curtains now are trailing along the ground leaving a winding trace, now pull the boy forward and do not let him go, sticking in the ground."
Kocharyan is not only a terrorist but also robber and marauder.
Due to the well-known reason, the Union-popular city of Agdam was occupied by Kocharyan's armed gangs and was pillaged and burnt in several days. The research of Professor of Washington University Svante Cornell contain such lines, "The civilians of Agdam were forced to leave their houses, the city was pillaged and burnt." Clearly and definitely said!
This is also confirmed by Armenian sources. The leader of "Republic" party Aram Sarkisyan, the brother of the prime minister of Armenia Vazghex Sarkisyan, accused Robert Kocheryan in pillage and looting and added, "… after the pillage in Agdam Kocharyan believed that our country could be pullaged as well."
So, the USSR fell. Gorbachev disappeared in the political nothingness but the anti-Azerbaijan flag was caught up in the new democratic Russia by Yeltsin. The Armenian aggression became more insolent and open. Azerbaijan was yet to face its new tragic days.
